Deciphering Irish Alcohol & Substance Use: Post-war Representations & Accounts

DIASPORA is a European Research Council funded project investigating the impact of the ‘drunken Irish’ label both at home and abroad since 1945. The project focuses on alcohol and recreational drug use, mental health, and welfare among Irish people. Our research team is exploring medical, church, state, and lay responses in these areas with an emphasis on cultural representations and the lived experience of Irish people.
